All of sudden the tailor Jacob Davis, one of his costumers, asked for his help. Jacob had invented a way to make durable pants by adding metal rivets on the pockets and front fly, but he needed money to patent the idea. Finally, Strauss patented the idea under their names on May 20, 1873. As a result, jeans were created and were an instant success.
